Question: How can I improve DIY Blog?

January 26th, 2008

Do you like DIY Blog?

If so, why? If not, why not? How can I improve the site? What would make it more interesting? What would make it more sticky (make you visit more often)?

Share your thoughts with me: please leave a comment.

Thanks for taking the time!

Circle Packing

I added a Gallery of my Processing sketches to the site.

Processing is an open source programming language and environment for people who want to program images, animation, and interactions. It is used by students, artists, designers, researchers, and hobbyists for learning, prototyping, and production. It is created to teach fundamentals of computer programming within a visual context and to serve as a software sketchbook and professional production tool. Processing is developed by artists and designers as an alternative to proprietary software tools in the same domain.

Processing is an open project initiated by Ben Fry and Casey Reas. It evolved from ideas explored in the Aesthetics and Computation Group at the MIT Media Lab.”

You can find the Gallery in the right-hand site menu. For the moment, I added a single sketch called Circle Packing, but more will follow, as I experiment further. I’ll keep you posted as I add more content.

Slacking, part two

Still working on that cube. I have to redo a couple of dice because I made some mistakes with the polarities. Also, I cut mu pinky with an xacto knife. It’s ok though, just a bit bloody.

Sorry I didn’t get around to posting tonight. I was working on a Rubik’s cube made of dice and magnets, not unlike this one.

I’ll post some pictures of it and my thoughts about the construction process once I’m done.

Merry Christmas!

Why don’t you use up some of your free time and make something today!

Welcome to DIY Blog

December 7th, 2007

Hi, and welcome to DIY Blog, a blog dedicated to Do It Yourself and such.

Whether you’re into DIY to learn new skills, to save money, to be creative, to reuse or recycle things you have, you’re sure to find something that suits your needs here.

I’m interested in just about anything DIY: electronics, knitting, home improvement, car and bicycle mechanics, computer case mods, eco-gardening, making your own clothes, cooking, circuit bending; so you’re bound to find something that interests you here.

There’s a lot of DIY sites out there that have a wealth of information. If you’re looking for something in particular or have a precise project in mind, by all means, go ahead a and use them. But if you’re like me, and love everything DIY, then by all means, visit often and check out what I’ve found. I’ll be scouring the internet for the best, most interesting, most creative and most useful projects out there. And if you found a gem of DIY project out there, then please share it with me.

Have fun, and don’t forget the safety goggles!
