Knit your own R2D2 Hat

Clarissa, Knitter-Extraordinaire, explains with great detail (if you understand knitting - I wouldn’t know) how to knit a very nice R2D2 hat.

I wish I had one.

Turn a 20$ DVD player into a portable NTSC display

This sweet hack turns a cheap portable DVD player into a portable NTSC monitor. I can think of a few interesting applications: car night-vision and parking/back-up cameras, portable consoles, monitor for DIY film making, monitor for a hidden or remote (think on a kite) camera, etc. Nice, cheap and totally versatile.

Happy Birthday, Lego

I just realized, as I stumbled on Google’s home page, that today is the 50th anniversary of the atoms of my childhood: the expensive yet totally-worth-it little plastic bricks with teethmarks on them.

Of course, they’re not shaped like bricks anymore: they have all sorts of specialized parts that cater to Ritalin snorting kids whose imagination can’t fuel rockets that look like K Cars. Unlike my generation.

Anyways, Happy Birthday LEGO.
